I’m a new staff member! What do I need to know?

Welcome to Carroll County Schools. It’s our job in the Technology Department to ensure your technical tools are sharpened to help you be a Champion for Kids!

CCSLINKS

ccslinks.com is a GREAT resource for many of the commonly accessed links for our district. It serves as a one-stop-shop dashboard for school email, Infinite Campus, Aesop, community calendars, technology work orders, and many other helpful resources. Check it out!

Technology Work Orders

If you have a technical issue, please submit a work order rather than sending an e-mail to Technology. This ensures that your issue is addressed in a timely manner as well as documenting your issue so we can better serve the staff of Carroll County Schools. You can access work orders by going to http://helpdesk.carroll.kyschools.us/portal or go to ccslinks.com and click on “Technology Work Order Ticket Request.”

Email

In most cases, your email address is in the following format: firstname.lastname@carroll.kyschools.us. You can confirm this by looking at the white text that appears on your computer’s wallpaper. It will list your e-mail address. See below for an example: Screen Shot 2014-06-03 at 8.52.12 PM

You can access your email by going to ccslinks.com and clicking on Office 365 (Staff & Student Email.) You can also easily access mail from anywhere by going to mail.ccpanthers.com.

File Sharing & Storage

We have tons of options and space available for your to store your data at Carroll County!
When you log in to your computer, and go to your “Computer” folder, you will have a number of drives. They should be as follows:

  • H drive – It will probably be labeled “YourUserName$ on e101files1.” This is YOUR private storage. You have 30GB of space to place any file here that you please. These files are backed up night and you can access them from any computer inside the district provided that you’re logged on.
  • P Drive – Labeled “Photos$ on e101000n6” – This is a drive dedicated for pictures. If you have taken pictures from around your school or of your class, you can place pictures here. A structure has been established by school and year. Please keep that in mind as you’re placing your pictures.
  • S Drive – Labels Vary By School – This is a drive that is for your building staff only. All staff can read/write data. No students have access.

You may also choose to use cloud storage options through Microsoft OneDrive or Google Drive. You automatically have OneDrive and Google Drive storage with your school e-mail account. You can access either system easily by visiting Carroll County Links and selecting which system you wish to access. You can access OneDrive or Google Drive from anywhere you have an Internet connection.

In Google Drive, you will also see some “Shared Drives” at the top, left, under “My Drive.” Those are drives that you have access to and can share files with groups you are part of.

If you have any questions about drives, please open a ticket and we’ll be happy to assist.

Passwords

Your password can be changed at any time. To change your password, simply press CTRL+ALT+DEL while logged on to any Windows computer, and select “Change Password.” The computer will prompt you for your old password, your new password, and your new password again for confirmation. Once that is filled out, your e-mail AND logon password will be changed. If you’ve set up your e-mail on any mobile devices, such as an iPhone or iPad, you may be prompted to enter your new password on those devices.

Telephone

Your classroom is equipped with an Avaya J129 telephone. From any phone, you can reach your school’s front desk by dialing 0 (it will take a second to start ringing.) To learn other features about your classroom phone, follow these directions.

If you are an employee with an office admin phone, you’ll need to watch this video, instead.

Voicemail

To set up your voicemail, follow the directions in this video.
New voicemails will be emailed directly to you as an audio attachment from the voicemail server. You can play the audio file on any computer with sound or on a mobile device if it’s connected to your school email.

If you are an employee with an office admin phone, you’ll need to watch this video, instead.

Please don’t hesitate to send in a work order if you have a question. We are happy to help you with whatever needs you may have. For further information about the technology department, contact Cindy Johann by email or at extension 6800.
